Both brands offer quality and long-lasting products for interior and exterior surfaces. Still, there are important differences between them that could help you make the best choice for your unique project.

Let’s take a closer look at the differences between Vista Paint vs Dunn Edwards so you can determine which one is best for you.

Differences Between Vista Paint vs Dunn Edwards

Vista Paint offers an array of vibrant colors and textures to give your walls a unique, sophisticated look, while Dunn Edwards specializes in a traditional color palette with classic finishes. Quality

Vista Paint offers superior quality paints compared to Dunn Edwards. Vista Paint’s products are designed with more durable and long-lasting pigments, making them an ideal choice for those looking for a high-quality paint product. Conversely, Dunn Edwards is more affordable but may not last as long due to lower-quality materials.

Color Selection

Regarding color selection, Dunn Edwards has a much wider range of options than Vista Paint. With their vast array of colors, you can find exactly what you want when painting your home or business.

Vista Paint provides fewer choices regarding color selection and may limit your choices when trying to match existing decor or wall colors.

VOC Content

In terms of VOC content, Dunn Edwards paints have low levels of volatile organic compounds, which makes them safe for indoor use and better for the environment than Vista Paint products. This is because Vista Paints contain higher levels of VOCs that can be harmful in the long run if frequently used indoors.

Durability

Vista Paints are known for their durability and resilience against wear and tear over time, making them a great choice if you want your paint job to last longer. In comparison, Dunn Edwards paints may be unreliable since they are not created with the same high-quality materials as Vista Paint products.

Coverage

Dunn Edwards paints tend to be more opaque than Vista Paints, requiring fewer coats per job to achieve full coverage. This means less time and effort spent on painting projects using Dunn Edwards paints while achieving good results.

However, full Vista Paints coverage may require additional layers depending on the completed project.

Availability

Dunn Edwards is available in most states in the United States, while Vista Paint may be limited to certain regions. For example, you can find Dunn Edwards stores in Arizona, California, Nevada, Texas, and Utah. Meanwhile, Vista Paint may only be available in some areas of California, Oregon, and Washington.

Application

Dunn Edwards paints are known for their smooth application with minimal brush marks or streaks. The paint is easy to apply on most surfaces without needing a lot of effort or special technique. In contrast, Vista Paint requires more care when applying it to minimize the possibility of brush marks or streaks.

Eco-Friendly

Dunn Edwards offers a line of eco-friendly paints low in VOC (volatile organic compounds). These paints are formulated to release fewer pollutants into the atmosphere than traditional paints. Contrary to this, Vista Paint does not offer any specific eco-friendly paint products.

Brand Reputation

Professionals have widely recognized Vista Paint for its quality and dependability. It is known for producing high-grade products with superior coverage and lasting protection against wear and tear.

Dunn Edwards is often viewed as being less expensive and suitable for DIYers who don’t necessarily need professional-grade products.

Price

Dunn Edwards typically has lower prices than Vista Paint which makes it a more budget-friendly option for people who don’t want to spend too much on paint supplies. Due to this factor and its wide availability nationwide, Dunn Edwards is often seen as an attractive choice for those working on smaller projects.

Deciding between Vista Paint and Dunn Edwards

Ultimately, choosing between Vista Paint vs Dunn Edwards comes down to what matters most to you. 1. Being in AZ, nv, Cali, and like 2 others states isn’t “most states”. Vista is only in Cali and 4 stores in Las Vegas. Vista paint is not in oregon. There are 3 completely different companies in the pacific northwest. Niether are dunn or vista. Vista literally has a truck that drives to and from Cali each week just to keep those stores stocked. Vista shouldn’t even be in Las Vegas and it wouldn’t be if it wasn’t for a guy they screwed over to bring it there. Vista is just another contractor brand like Dunn Edward’s which are but subpar paint products at best. Vista may have one or two lines that are home runs, but in the grand scheme of things they use cheap ingredients. I can’t wait for the day companies like sherwin, Ben Moore, ppg, and places like Lowes and home depot put companies like Vista and Dunn out of their miseries. Or buy them out. They day Vista sells is a day I will tap dance to the park.
